Question 3: What is tax planning and does my tax preparer already do it when my taxes get filed?

Tax planning and tax preparation are different services. Tax preparation is the process of completing and filing income tax returns, typically once a year. Tax Planning is an ongoing year-round strategy designed to minimize your tax liability and help you achieve financial goals.

Tax preparers populate the tax return based on information and documentation you provide to them. Tax planners, on the other hand, are tax strategists who work with you throughout the year seeking ways to strategically get you the most tax savings possible by understanding your life, family, work, business and goals.

Tax planning fees are higher than tax preparation fees and are typically paid throughout the year as planning occurs throughout a period of time.
